UPDATE, March 2010:

We have been informed, again by Mr. Pratt, that Jeeps have been tresspassing on private property. Club members and other Jeep owners / enthusiasts please be warned; as quoted from Mr. Pratt's recent email, "trespassing will not be tolerated on Morterm or Essex Terminal Railway property, and will be strictly enforced by the local authorities." Windsor Police Services were recently called on a Jeep owner who had trespassed. Look on the TWJC home page or Google legitimate areas to offroad. Please be more considerate of private property. Trespassing will only give Jeep owners a bad name, and possibly get you a police record. Find legal mud to play in!

Attention members of The Windsor Jeep Club, members of the local Jeep community, other off-road and 4x4 enthusiasts and visitors to the Windsor, Ontario area.

The Windsor Jeep Club was recently informed of trespassers on the lands of Merterm Limited and the Essex Terminal Railway, known to many as Morton Terminal.

We have been contacted by Mr. Ivan Pratt, Assistant General Manager of Morterm Limited and Mr. Peter Berry, Harbourmaster of Windsor Port Authority to forward their concerns. Be forewarned that neither Morterm nor ETR permit unauthorized access to their respective properties and will do all possible to prevent such activity.

I quote from Mr. Pratt, "We hope that our message is clear and unequivocal - trespassing will not be tolerated and trespassers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of
the law".

I quote from Mr. Berry, "Trespassing on the respective lands, Brighton Beach, Ojibway Industrial next to Brighton Beach, or the Queens Land next to the Ojibway Industrial will not be tolerated and trespassers will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and in applicable cases, damages sought.  No exceptions will be made for those violators found to be in trespass".

Jeeps, dirt bikes and other off-road and recreational vehicles should refrain from any further use of the area.

Any member of The Windsor Jeep Club identified as trespassing by these authorities will have their membership revoked.

The Windsor Jeep Club web site contains links to official off-road parks and others are available through online searches and message boards.

Please respect the concerns of these authorities or be prepared for legal consequence.

Jeff Oppen, President - TWJC
